Why Did Chumlee Leave Pawn Stars

Chumlee's New Chapter: Why He Left Pawn Stars

So, you've been binge-watching Pawn Stars and suddenly, you notice Chumlee's not around. You're not alone in wondering, "What happened to Chumlee?" Let's dive into the world of pawn shops, reality TV, and Chumlee's new journey.

From Pawn Shop to Reality TV

For those who've been living under a rock, Pawn Stars is a reality TV show set in a Las Vegas pawn shop owned by the Harrison family. Chumlee, real name Austin Lee Russell, was a beloved cast member known for his quirky personality and love for all things pop culture. He joined the show in 2009, and for over a decade, we watched him appraise everything from vintage comic books to ancient artifacts.

But in 2018, Chumlee left the show that made him famous. Why? Let's explore the reasons behind his departure and what he's been up to since.

Why Chumlee Left Pawn Stars

Legal Troubles

In 2016, Chumlee found himself in hot water with the law. He was arrested on charges of felony possession of a firearm and drug paraphernalia. This incident took a toll on him and the show. After serving a year of probation, Chumlee was ready for a fresh start.

"I just wanted to move on from that," Chumlee told Entertainment Tonight. "I didn't want to be known as the guy who got arrested. I wanted to be known as the guy who got arrested and turned his life around."

A Desire for Change

Chumlee's departure from Pawn Stars wasn't just about leaving his legal troubles behind. He also wanted to explore new opportunities and challenge himself. In an interview with People, he revealed, "I just wanted to do something different. I wanted to grow as a person."

And grow he did. Chumlee opened his own pawn shop, Chumlee's Pawn Plaza, right next door to the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, where Pawn Stars is filmed. Talk about a power move!

Since leaving Pawn Stars, Chumlee has been busy with his new pawn shop and even launched a clothing line, Chumlee's Trading Post. He's also been open about his struggles with weight loss, inspiring fans with his dedication to a healthier lifestyle.

But Chumlee hasn't forgotten his roots. He still makes appearances on Pawn Stars from time to time and remains close with the Harrison family. "I'm still a part of the family," he told Entertainment Tonight. "I just don't work there anymore."
