Text Procedure How To Make Mango Juice

So, there I was, standing in my kitchen, sweat dripping down my face, staring at a mountain of mangoes. I mean, who buys six mangoes at once? Me, that's who. I was convinced I'd make the best mango smoothie the world had ever tasted. But as I looked at those slippery little devils, I realized I had no idea how to turn them into liquid gold. Sound familiar?

Fear not, dear reader, for I have navigated the treacherous waters of mango juicing and lived to tell the tale. And now, I'm going to share my wisdom with you. Let's dive in, shall we?

Gather Your Troops

First things first, you're gonna need some supplies. Grab yourself a sharp knife (be careful, I don't want to hear about any mango-related ER visits), a cutting board, a blender (or a juicer, if you're fancy), a strainer, and a big ol' bowl. And, of course, you'll need those beautiful mangoes. Ripe ones, please. None of that rock-hard business.

Peel and Dice

Alright, let's get these mangoes naked. Cut off the 'cheeks' of the mango - that's the two fleshy parts on either side of the pit. Then, score the flesh of the mango with your knife, creating a grid pattern. Turn the mango inside out and slice off the cubes. Toss them into your bowl. Easy peasy, right?

Now, if you're like me and you're determined to get every last bit of mango out of that skin, you can use a vegetable peeler to shave off the remaining flesh. But be careful, those mangoes are slippery little Houdinis.

Blend, Baby, Blend

Okay, so you've got your bowl full of mango cubes. Now it's time to turn them into liquid magic. Chuck them into your blender (or juicer, if you're feeling bougie). If you're using a blender, add a splash of water - about a quarter of a cup should do it. This will help everything blend smoothly.

Now, blend until it's smooth. Stop every now and then to scrape down the sides of the blender. If you're using a juicer, well, you know what to do. Just make sure you've got a big bowl ready to catch all that delicious juice.

Strain, If You're Feeling Fancy

If you're like me and you can't stand pulp, it's time to bust out that strainer. Pour your mango mixture through it and into a pitcher. Use a spoon to press down on the solids and get every last drop of juice out.

But hey, if you're into that pulp life, more power to you. Skip this step and pour yourself a glass of that gorgeous, pulpy goodness.

Sweeten to Taste

Taste your juice. Is it sweet enough for you? If not, add a little honey or sugar and blend (or stir) it in. I like my mango juice on the tart side, so I usually skip this step. But hey, to each their own.

And there you have it! Mango juice so good, you'll be dancing the mango salsa in your kitchen. Pour yourself a glass, sit back, and enjoy the fruits of your labor. You've earned it, you mango-making machine, you.

But wait, what do you do with all that leftover mango flesh? Well, that's a story for another time. Until then, happy juicing!
