Most Played Video Games Of All Time

So, there I was, scrolling through my gaming library the other day, and it hit me - I've spent more time with some of these games than I have with certain family members. I mean, I've got more screenshots of Minecraft than I do of my own birthday parties. That got me thinking, what are the most played video games of all time? Let's dive in, shall we?

Topping the Charts

According to Statista, the most played video game of all time is... drumroll please... Tetris! Now, I know what you're thinking, "But Tetris came out in the '80s, how can it still be on top?" Well, my friend, it's all about the numbers. Tetris has sold over 170 million copies worldwide. That's more than Kim Kardashian's followers on Instagram (well, maybe not, but you get the idea).

But here's the thing, Tetris isn't exactly a game you can sink hundreds of hours into. It's more of a quick fix, like a gaming Twinkie. So, let's talk about games that you can really sink your teeth into.

The Big Guns

Coming in at number two is Minecraft, with over 238 million copies sold. That's right, more than the population of Brazil. I mean, who hasn't spent hours mining for diamonds or building a castle that's more likely to be a pile of random blocks? Minecraft is like the gaming equivalent of a blank canvas - you can create anything you want, and that's what makes it so darn addictive.

Next up, we have Grand Theft Auto V, with over 150 million copies sold. Now, I'm not saying I've spent countless hours driving around Los Santos causing chaos, but if I have, it's because I was researching for a future heist. Ahem. GTA V is the highest-grossing media title of all time, beating out even Avengers: Endgame. Take that, Marvel!

Honorable Mentions

Now, I couldn't write this article without mentioning some of the other heavy hitters. World of Warcraft has been keeping players hooked for over 15 years, with its latest expansion, Shadowlands, bringing in over 3.7 million players on launch day. That's more than the population of Iceland. And let's not forget Fortnite, which has been a cultural phenomenon since it launched in 2017. With over 350 million players worldwide, it's safe to say that the battle royale genre is here to stay.

But what about you, dear reader? What's the game you've spent the most time playing? Is it one of the big guns, or a lesser-known gem? Let me know in the comments. Who knows, you might just inspire my next gaming marathon.
