Lsu Football Coaches In Order

Alright, gather 'round, y'all. I'm about to spin you a yarn about them LSU Tigers football coaches. Now, I ain't gonna bore you with a dry ol' list, nah, we're gonna have us a party. So, grab your favorite beverage, get comfy, and let's dive into this coaching carousel, shall we?

Before the Modern Era: The Old Guard

Now, we're talkin' way back when, like the 1890s. The first fella to lead the Tigers was a man named Bill Fulmer. He was a lawyer, can you believe that? I guess back then, they figured if you could argue in a courtroom, you could sure as heck argue on the sidelines. He coached for just one season, and then it was on to the next guy.

Then came Charles McClendon. Now, this fella was a character. He coached from 1962 to 1979, which is like, what, a hundred years in coaching years? He was known for his fancy suits and his fancy plays. They say he could call a play so complicated, even the refs would scratch their heads. But hey, it worked, 'cause he won three SEC championships and took the Tigers to five bowl games.

Enter the Mad Hatter

Alright, now we're getting to the good stuff. In 1980, along comes Les Miles. Now, Les, he's a story unto himself. They called him the 'Mad Hatter' 'cause he'd wear that wild visor like it was a fashion statement. And his press conferences? Well, let's just say they were... colorful. He'd talk about grass stains and crazy things, but he sure knew how to win. Four SEC championships and a national title, that's what he brought to the table.

But Les, he had a thing for, shall we say, 'unique' celebrations. Like the time he did a little jig after a touchdown, or when he chugged a bottle of water like his life depended on it. We loved him for it, though. He was our crazy uncle, and we wouldn't have him any other way.

Enter Nick Saban's Nemesis

Now, here's where things get interesting. In 2005, Les Miles left, and in walked Nick Saban. Now, Nick, he's a bit of a legend, ain't he? But let's not forget, he was the new kid on the block, and we LSU folk, we're a loyal bunch. We weren't about to roll out the red carpet just yet.

So, what does Nick do? He goes and wins a national championship in his first year. Talk about making an entrance! But we weren't gonna give him the satisfaction of loving him right away. No, we made him work for it. And work he did, winning another national title in 2011. But hey, we still gave him a hard time. It's what we do.

After Saban: The New Blood

After Saban left for greener pastures (or should I say, Alabama crimson), in stepped Les Miles again. Yes, you read that right. We brought the Mad Hatter back for an encore. But this time, it was a bit different. Les, he was a bit... older. His hair was a bit... whiter. And his press conferences? Well, they were still colorful, but maybe a touch more... confused.

But hey, he was our confused, colorful coach, and we loved him for it. Until, that is, we decided we needed a change. So, out went Les, and in came Ed Orgeron. Now, Ed, he's a Cajun through and through. He talks like he's got a mouth full of crawfish, and he's got a heart as big as the bayou. We love him for it, and we sure do love his teams. They might not be winning national championships, but they're sure winning our hearts.

And That's the Story So Far...

So there you have it, folks. A whirlwind tour through LSU football coaching history. It's been a wild ride, ain't it? From lawyers to mad hatters, from national championships to, well, more national championships. It's been one heck of a party, and we're just getting started.

Now, who's ready for another round? I've got a feeling this coaching carousel ain't over yet. But hey, that's what makes it fun, right? So, here's to the next coach, whoever they may be. May their grass stains be plentiful, their celebrations be wild, and their wins be many. Geaux Tigers!
