Is There A Scarface 2 Movie

Hey There, Ever Wondered About That Scarface Sequel?

Alright, let's dive in! You know how sometimes you're watching a movie, and you think, "Man, this is awesome, but it could use a part two!" Well, have you ever thought that about Scarface? The iconic 1983 film that gave us Tony Montana, the famous "Say hello to my little friend" line, and a whole lot of drama in Miami. Let's explore if there's a Scarface 2 out there, or if it's just a pipe dream.

So, What's the Deal with Scarface 2?

First things first, let's address the elephant in the room. Yes, there was a Scarface sequel. But before you get too excited, it's not what you think. It's not a direct sequel with Al Pacino reprising his role as Tony Montana. Instead, it's a 1990 TV movie called Scarface: The Shame of the Sun, which follows a new character, Tony's nephew Manny Ribera, played by Steven Bauer, who also played Manny in the original film.

Now, I know what you're thinking, "That's not what I had in mind!" But hold on, because the story doesn't end there.

Universal's Plans for a Scarface Reboot

In 2011, Universal Pictures announced plans for a Scarface reboot. Yes, you heard it right! A new take on the classic film. The project was set to be written by Drive and Only God Forgives director Nicolas Winding Refn and produced by Martin Bregman, who produced the original film. But here's where things get interesting - or should I say, uninteresting.

The project seemed to be stuck in development hell. There were rumors of Refn leaving the project, and then in 2018, Universal announced that they were moving forward with a new take, this time with Let Them All Talk director Steven Soderbergh attached. But as of now, there's been no official update, and the project seems to have gone quiet.

Could There Be a Scarface 2 in the Future?

Well, stranger things have happened in Hollywood, right? Who knows, maybe one day we'll see a direct sequel to the original Scarface. Maybe Tony Montana will make a surprise comeback, or perhaps we'll see a new character take up the mantle in a whole new story. Until then, we can only speculate and keep our fingers crossed.
