Born in Los Angeles in 1935, Alpert's musical journey began in his teens, playing in garage bands and later serving in the Army, where he honed his skills. But it was his 1962 instrumental hit, The Lonely Bull, that launched his career into the stratosphere.

Tijuana Brass and Beyond

Alpert's influence extends far beyond his own discography. He co-founded A&M Records with Jerry Moss in 1962, signing acts like The Carpenters, Cat Stevens, and Sergio Mendes. Today, A&M's legacy lives on as part of Universal Music Group.
