I Found Pills And Ate Them

So, there I was, minding my own business, rummaging through my old backpack. You know, the one that's been sitting in the corner of your room since forever, gathering dust and mystery. I unzipped it, and out tumbled a handful of colorful pills. Now, I'm not one to judge, but I was pretty sure I hadn't packed a pharmacy in there.

Pill Roulette

I stared at them, my brain whirring like a slot machine. "What are these?" I thought. "Are they vitamins? Leftover party favors? Or maybe... experimental space drugs?" (I watch a lot of sci-fi.) I decided to play it safe and consult Dr. Google. Turns out, they were just your average multivitamins. Boring, I know. But hey, at least I didn't turn into a human-pineapple hybrid.

Now, you might be thinking, "Why didn't you just read the label?" Well, dear reader, because I was hungry. And when I'm hungry, I turn into a human vacuum cleaner. I've been known to eat entire pizzas in one go, and once, I even ate a houseplant. (Don't ask.) So, in my defense, my brain was running on fumes.

Surprising Pill Facts

While I was waiting for my brain to reboot, I decided to do some research on these mysterious pills. Did you know that the world's first vitamin supplement was created in 1922? It was a powdered form of vitamin D, made from irradiated ergosterol. They called it "Vitamin D2" or "Irradiated Ergosterol." I'm no scientist, but that sounds like something you'd find in a mad scientist's lab, not a pharmacy.

And get this, in the 1950s, some companies were adding vitamins to candy to make it "healthier." I know, right? It's like they thought kids wouldn't notice the difference between a vitamin pill and a candy. Spoiler alert: kids totally noticed. They just ate more candy and got a sugar rush and their daily dose of vitamins. Win-win, I guess?

Lessons Learned

So, what did I learn from this little adventure? Well, for one, always check the label before you pop something in your mouth. And two, never underestimate the power of hunger. It can drive you to do some crazy things. Like eating pills. Or houseplants.

But hey, at least I got a fun story out of it. And who knows? Maybe next time, I'll find something really interesting in that backpack. Like a map to buried treasure. Or a tiny, sentient alien. A guy can dream, can't he?
