Let's Start at the Beginning

Born on May 15, 1969, in Pensacola, Florida, Emmitt Smith Jr. was always destined for greatness. But let's rewind a bit. You see, Emmitt's parents, Mary and Emmitt Sr., were both tall themselves. Emmitt Sr. was a strapping 6'2", and Mary was a respectable 5'9". So, the question on everyone's mind was, "Would little Emmitt follow in their giant footsteps?"

Growing Pains

As a kid, Emmitt was your average height for his age. Nothing too remarkable, really. But as he hit his teenage years, something magical happened. He started to sprout like a sunflower! By the time he was a senior in high school, Emmitt had grown to a towering... well, let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet.

Now, you might be thinking, "But how tall was Emmitt Smith in college?" Well, my friend, that's where things get a little tricky. You see, Emmitt's college career at the University of Florida was nothing short of legendary. He was a force to be reckoned with on the field, but his height? That's where things get a bit hazy.

You see, Emmitt was listed at 5'9" on the official Florida Gators roster. But let's be real, folks. That's about as reliable as a weather forecast in Florida. One day it's sunny, the next it's a monsoon. So, take that height with a grain of salt, if you will.

Enter the NFL

In 1990, Emmitt was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys, and the rest, as they say, is history. But let's get back to the height question. By this point, Emmitt was listed at a consistent 5'9" on the Cowboys' roster. But here's where things get interesting.

You see, Emmitt was never one to let his height hold him down. In fact, he used it to his advantage. He was quick, agile, and could slip through defenses like a shadow. He was like a little bulldozer, plowing through tackles and racking up yardage like it was nobody's business.

Hall of Fame Height?

So, how tall was Emmitt Smith, really? Well, that's still up for debate. But here's what we do know. Emmitt Smith was taller than average in terms of NFL running backs. He was listed at 5'9", but some say he might have been an inch or two taller. But does it really matter?

Emmitt Smith isn't in the Hall of Fame because of his height. He's there because he's the NFL's all-time leading rusher with over 18,000 yards. He's there because he was a three-time Super Bowl champion and a two-time NFL MVP. He's there because he was a force of nature on the football field, and his height had nothing to do with it.

So, What's the Verdict?

Alright, alright, I'll give you a straight answer. Emmitt Smith was likely around 5'10" or 5'11". But remember, folks, height is just a number.
