How Old Was Olivia When She Released Guts

So, there I was, scrolling through my Spotify playlists the other day, when I stumbled upon Olivia Rodrigo's "good 4 u". I mean, who hasn't had that song on repeat at least a hundred times? But it got me thinking, just how old was this kid when she released her debut album, Sour?

I mean, it's not like we're talking about some ancient history here. Olivia's still a teenager, right? But let's rewind a bit. You might remember her from her Disney days, playing Paige on "Bizaardvark". Yeah, that was her. But it wasn't until she dropped "Drivers License" in January 2021 that we really got to know Olivia Rodrigo, the singer-songwriter.

Now, you might be wondering, "How old was she when she released 'Drivers License'?" Well, hold onto your hats, folks. She was just 17! Can you even? I mean, I was still trying to figure out how to use my parents' old camcorder at that age. But Olivia? She was already taking the music world by storm.

But let's talk about the main event, shall we? The release of her debut album, Sour. That happened on May 21, 2021. And guess how old our little pop sensation was? Drumroll please... She was 18! That's right, she turned 18 just a few months before her album dropped.

I know, I know, you're probably shaking your head in disbelief. I mean, at 18, I was still trying to decide whether I wanted to be a professional pizza taster or a full-time nap enthusiast. But Olivia? She was busy writing and releasing one of the best-selling albums of the year.

But here's the thing, folks. Olivia didn't just come out of nowhere. She's been working at this for years. She started acting when she was just 10 years old, and she's been writing songs since she was 12. So, by the time she released Sour, she had already put in years of work, honing her craft and perfecting her sound.

And let's not forget, she had a little help from some industry heavyweights. Her album was produced by Dan Nigro, who's worked with the likes of Olivia's idol, Taylor Swift, as well as other big names like Lewis Watson and Conan Gray. So, it's not like she was just some kid with a guitar, hoping to make it big. She had the talent, the experience, and the right people behind her.

But still, you've got to admire her drive and her passion. At an age where most of us are still trying to figure out what we want to do with our lives, Olivia was already making her mark on the music industry. And let's face it, she's not going anywhere anytime soon. With her talent, her charisma, and her army of dedicated fans, she's here to stay.

So, the next time you're singing along to "good 4 u" or "Drivers License", remember that the girl behind those hits was just a teenager when she released them. And who knows? Maybe one day, we'll all be listening to her music and thinking, "Wow, I remember when she was just 18..."

Until then, let's keep supporting our girl Olivia, and maybe, just maybe, we'll all be a little bit inspired to chase our own dreams, no matter how big or small. After all, if Olivia can do it, why can't we?
