How Old Is Buzz From Home Alone

Ever wondered about the age of that lovable, mischievous kid from the classic Christmas movie, Home Alone? You know, the one who outsmarted two bumbling burglars and turned his house into a fortress? Yeah, that kid - Buzz McCallister. Let's dive into this, shall we?

So, How Old Is Buzz?

Alright, let's tackle this like a good ol' detective. Buzz first graced our screens in 1990, in the original Home Alone. Now, the movie's set around Christmas time, and we know that Buzz's older brother, Kevin, is about 10 years old. Since they're siblings, it's safe to assume Buzz is a bit older, right?

In the movie, Buzz is portrayed as a typical teenager - he's into sports, has a crush on a girl, and is generally more interested in his own life than his little brother's antics. So, let's put our best guess at... 15 or 16 years old, maybe?

But Wait, There's More!

Here's where it gets interesting. The movie's set in 1990, but it's actually the first in a series of films. The sequels, Home Alone 2 and Home Alone 3, are set a few years later, in 1992 and 1997 respectively. If we assume Buzz ages in real-time between movies, that'd make him around 17 in the second film and, well, quite a bit older in the third.

‘Home Alone’ Cast Then & Now: What Became of the Actors from the Iconic

But here's the kicker - the actor who plays Buzz, Devin Ratray, was actually born in 1977. That means, in real life, he was around 13 when the first movie was released. Mind. Blown.

So, Is Buzz Aging in Reverse?

Not quite. The age discrepancy is likely due to the fact that Ratray was cast for his mature appearance and acting skills, not his actual age. It's not uncommon for younger actors to play older roles. Think of a young Leonardo DiCaprio playing a 19-year-old in Titanic, when he was actually just 17.

But hey, let's not forget, Buzz is a fictional character. His age is just a fun detail that adds to the charm of the movie. So, whether he's 15 or 17 or somewhere in between, one thing's for sure - he's a classic movie icon who's been making us laugh and cheer for over three decades.

And there you have it, folks! The age of Buzz McCallister, unraveled. Now, who's ready to watch Home Alone again and appreciate Buzz's teenage antics just a little bit more?
