Go Back And Strengthen Your Brother

So, there I was, a few weeks back, standing in line at the coffee shop, when I overheard a barista ask a regular, "The usual, Joe?" Now, I've been going to this place for months, and I've never seen this Joe guy before. I mean, sure, I've seen a Joe, but not this Joe. Turns out, there's a whole 'nother shift happening when I'm not around. Mind. Blown.

It got me thinking, how often do we miss out on connections and community because we're stuck in our routines, our bubbles? We're so busy going about our daily lives, we forget to look around, to engage with the people right next to us. And that's a shame, because we could be missing out on some awesome opportunities to strengthen our bonds, to go back and strengthen our brother, so to speak.

Brother, Sister, Neighbor, Friend

Now, I'm not talking about some cheesy, after-school-special kind of bonding. I'm talking about real, genuine connections. The kind that make you feel seen, heard, and valued. The kind that make you want to show up for someone, even when it's not the most convenient time.

You see, we're all in this together. We're all just trying to make it through the day, the week, the year. And while it's easy to get caught up in our own struggles, it's also easy to forget that everyone else is going through something too. So, why not make it a little bit easier for each other?

Reach Out, Check In

Here's a radical idea: what if we actually asked people how they're doing, and then really listened to their response? What if we followed up on that response, checked in on them later to see how they're holding up? What if we didn't just stop at "Hi, how are you?", but actually cared about the answer?

I know, I know, it sounds like a lot. But it's really not. It just takes a little bit of effort, a little bit of time. And who knows? You might just make someone's day. You might just strengthen your brother, so to speak.

Share Your Strength

And it's not just about listening. It's about sharing too. We all have something to offer, some strength, some skill, some experience. And when we share that with others, we're not just helping them, we're helping ourselves too. We're building community, we're building connection, we're building brotherhood.

So, go on. Reach out to that neighbor you've been meaning to meet. Check in on that friend you haven't talked to in a while. Share your strength with that coworker who's been struggling. You never know, you might just find that they have something to share with you too.

It's a Two-Way Street

And that's the thing about community, about connection. It's a two-way street. It's not just about giving, it's about receiving too. It's about being open to learning from others, to growing with others. It's about being vulnerable, about being real.

So, let's not miss out on these opportunities. Let's not stay in our bubbles, in our routines. Let's go back, let's strengthen our brother. Let's build community, let's build connection. Because at the end of the day, we're all just trying to make it through together. And it's a lot easier when we have each other's backs.

So, next time you're in line at the coffee shop, look around. See who's there. Say hi. You never know, you might just meet your new brother, your new sister, your new neighbor, your new friend.
