Hey there, friend! Grab a chair, let's chat. You know how sometimes life throws a curveball, and you're just sitting there, coffee in hand, thinking, "Well, that's not what I expected today"? Yeah, that.
So, picture this. It's a regular school day in Bend, Oregon. Kids are laughing, teachers are teaching, the usual humdrum. Then, bam, out of nowhere, a tragedy. A gun, in a place it shouldn't be. Three little lives, gone. A teacher, trying to protect, lost too.
I mean, who even knows what to say? "I'm sorry" seems so small, so insignificant. But it's all we've got, right? So, we're sorry, Bend. We're sorry for your loss. We're sorry you had to experience this.

Who were they?
Let's talk about the kids, shall we? There was X, always the first to raise their hand, eager to learn. And Y, with a smile that could light up the darkest room. Little Z, the smallest but with the biggest heart. And their teacher, A, dedicated, passionate, a hero in every sense of the word.
They were more than just names, more than just faces. They were life. They were hope. They were love. And now, they're gone. It's not fair. It's not right. But it's our reality.

Why?
Now, I'm not one to dwell on the "whys". We could sit here all day, asking why the sky is blue, why the grass is green, why this happened. But we won't find answers. Not today. Not tomorrow. Maybe never.
But here's what we can do. We can remember. We can remember X, Y, Z, and A. We can remember their laughter, their dreams, their courage. We can remember, and we can honor their memory by making sure this never happens again.
What now?
So, what do we do? We mourn. We support. We stand together. We demand change. We love harder. We live louder. For them. For us. For everyone.
Guns and Domestic Violence Exact a Deadly Toll on Kids
We're not just Bend, Oregon, anymore. We're a community. A family. United in grief, united in hope. And we'll get through this. Together.
But hey, enough about the heavy stuff. Let's talk about something else, yeah? Maybe the weather? Or that new coffee shop downtown? Anything but this. Because right now, we need a break. We need a moment of normalcy. We need... we need to remember that life goes on.
So, here's to Bend. Here's to strength. Here's to love. Here's to life. And here's to never forgetting.
