Along comes a band called Coven, a group of youngsters from Chicago who decide to give the world a taste of their unique blend of rock, blues, and a dash of... shall we say, the occult.

Now, Blood For Blood wasn't their first song, but it sure was their most memorable. Released in 1969, this little ditty quickly became a staple in the underground music scene, and for good reason. It's got a riff that'll make your toes tap, lyrics that'll make you ponder, and a story behind it that's as wild as a rock 'n' roll rollercoaster.

So, what's this song all about? Well, buckle up, because it's a tale as twisted as it is catchy. According to the band, Blood For Blood is a song about... well, blood for blood. Yikes, right? But don't worry, it's not as gory as it sounds. The song is actually a commentary on the cycle of violence and revenge, wrapped up in a groovy little package.

Lead singer Jinx Dawson, who also happened to be the band's songwriter, was inspired to write the song after reading a book about the Thuggee cult in India. These guys were a bunch of assassins who believed in a 'blood for blood' philosophy, and Jinx thought it'd make a pretty rad song. And boy, was she right!
